Sodium tetradecyl sulphate is a sclerosing agent. Intravenous injection causes intima
inflammation and thrombus formation. This usually occludes the injected vein. Subsequent
formation of fibrous tissue results in partial or complete vein obliteration that may or
may not be permanent.
